Smart India Hackathon
Your SIH idea deck, written from your notes.
Drop in the problem statement, your idea notes and your repo if you have one. devreport writes a six-slide deck around the headings SIH idea decks use, with your flow diagram redrawn for the technical approach and charts only from data you supply.
Want the official 2026 look? The SIH 2026 theme rebuilds the official idea template’s layout: its title page, logo, team-name oval and footer. devreport is not affiliated with Smart India Hackathon; where your round requires the template file itself, paste the content into it. Before the national round comes your college’s: how to get through the SIH internal round.
What the SIH idea deck asks for
Recent SIH idea templates have six slides with these headings. The template can change from year to year, so check the one on the SIH portal or from your college’s SPOC before you submit.
| Slide | What goes on it | What to give devreport |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Title | Problem statement ID and title, theme, category (software or hardware), team ID and team name | Put these in your notes word for word: it copies them, never guesses them |
| 2. Proposed solution | Your idea, how it solves the problem, what makes it new | Your idea notes and the problem statement text |
| 3. Technical approach | Technologies, the method or process flow, prototype images if you have them | Your stack, a repo if one exists, a Mermaid diagram or a rough flow in words, screenshots |
| 4. Feasibility and viability | Why it can work, the risks and how you would handle them | The real risks you see; it won’t make them up |
| 5. Impact and benefits | Who benefits and how: social, economic, environmental | The users you have in mind and any numbers you can source |
| 6. Research and references | The papers, reports and links behind your claims | Your list of sources; it lists only those |
How to use it for SIH
- Start a deck and set the length to 6. Upload the problem statement and your notes, and paste the repo link if you have one. In the notes, list the six headings and ask for one slide each.
- Answer its questions. It may ask up to three: who the users are, what the prototype does today, which result matters most.
- Read it as an evaluator would. Leave a note on any slide to have it rewritten, or fix a word yourself on the page. Share a view-only link so your team can comment.
- Move it into the template if you have to. Copy the text and take the charts and diagram from the PDF. If the college gives you the template as a .pptx, upload it when you start and the deck takes its colours, fonts and logo.
Before you upload
- Slide 1 carries the exact problem statement ID and your team ID. Check them against the portal.
- Name the actual tools and frameworks you will use, not a category like “AI”.
- Show the technical approach as a flow from input to output. A diagram reads faster than a paragraph.
- List risks you really expect, each with what you would do about it.
- Keep every number traceable to a source on your references slide.
- Open the PDF on a phone and a laptop before uploading, and keep to the slide limit.
Questions
Is this the official SIH template?
devreport is not affiliated with Smart India Hackathon, AICTE or the Ministry of Education, and it does not fill in the official template file. Its SIH 2026 theme rebuilds the official 2026 idea template’s layout (the six-field title page, logo, team-name oval and footer) as a PDF; the other themes plan a deck in their own design around the same headings.
Can I submit the devreport deck as it is?
That depends on your round. The SIH idea submission asks for the official template, so for that round paste devreport’s text, charts and diagram into the template. Some internal college rounds accept any deck: ask your college’s SIH coordinator (SPOC) before you rely on that.
Does it make a PPT or a PDF?
A PDF, which is what SIH idea decks are uploaded as. If you need a .pptx to edit, download one for 2 credits more; its text stays editable.
Can it keep to six slides?
Yes. Pick 6 as the length (the default for a deck). The length is exact unless your material runs out. Ask in your notes for the six headings and it plans the deck around them.
We only have an idea, no code yet. Does it still work?
Yes. A repo is optional. Upload the problem statement, your notes on the idea, a rough architecture and any data you have, and it builds from those. It won’t invent research, users or results you don’t give it.
How long does it take?
Usually three to five minutes, a little longer for a big repo, plus the time you take to answer its questions.
What does it cost?
New accounts get 15 free credits. A deck costs 10 credits and each change you ask for afterwards costs 1; editing text on the page yourself and switching themes are free. A build that fails gives its credits back.
